Debbra at Home, revealing Tiger Tattoo
Her husband had recently been killed in a car crash. They’d dated since high school and she had moved back to her home town to marry him. We photographed their wedding in the early 1990s, a pagan ceremony. After his death, she stayed on at the farmstead he’d worked endless hours refurbishing and collected tattoos. We wanted to make a photograph of her where his presence was felt and her tattoos defied the pastoral implications of her place.
